The Dan Spanner Trio, a London-based jazz/punk outfit formed in 2019, smash jazz, psychedelia, heavy rock, and surreal poetry into a chaotic sonic storm. With sax, drums, bass, and a pedal board gone wild, they deliver funky grooves, and punk-jazz ferocity.
This isn’t background music—it’s a full-body experience.
Psychedelic modal improvisations & stories over rocky dance grooves… pedal-affected sax and ‘out there’ poetry… not really like anything else… …“funky psychedelic punk jazz”…

“Astoundingly captivating organised noise!”
“Dan Spanner. Tim Burton got it all from him!!”
“Frontman, Dan Spanner, reminiscent of Iggy Pop, Ian Dury…”
“Hendrix vibe sax with nutty psychedelic poetry and lyrics”
“Like attending a party in a particularly malnourished part of Frank Zappa’s frontal lobe.”

Dan Spanner is a veteran saxophonist and performance artist whose career spans decades of fearless musical exploration — from the atmospheric realms of Goth, New Wave, Space Rock, and Ambient to the experimental and avant-garde. Emerging from the vibrant UK festival and club circuit of the 1980s (Club Dog, Whirlygig, early raves), he performed with cult bands such as Ring of Roses, Webcore, and Another Green World, establishing his distinctive, genre-blurring saxophone style. In the 1990s, Spanner joined the legendary chainsaw circus Archaos and performed with The Thunderdogs, fusing music, theatre, and spectacle in groundbreaking shows that redefined live performance. He went on to form The Spannerman Performance Band, a riotous fusion of saxophone, trapeze, comedy, and magic that brought circus arts and music together in thrilling new ways. Today, Spanner fronts a range of projects — from his experimental solo work and the high-energy Dan Spanner Trio to the Spanner Big Band, Spanner Jazz Punks, Spanner Trouvères, and ambient project Eddy Whirls — each reflecting his boundless creativity and commitment to pushing the limits of sound, theatre, and imagination.
